A North Houston dance company
Under Konstruction Dance Krew is a local, award-winning dance team located in North Houston. We offer dance as a creative outlet, a form of expression and a cultural experience to children who may not be afforded the opportunity to do so elsewhere. We teach dance to boys and girls ages five and up. We offer different styles of dance, including jazz, ballet, contemporary, modern, freestyle, hip-hop and break dance. The classes also help students improve their mental capabilities — teaching the students self-confidence, respect, discipline and self-esteem. The kids also increase their muscle tone and strength, coordination, agility, flexibility, balance and spatial awareness. Under Konstruction strives to instill life lessons and values into its students, such as the importance of teamwork and the significance of giving back to the community.
ABOUT THE OWNER
JOYCELYN HUNTER-SCOTT
Owner and Artistic Director
Joycelyn Hunter-Scott has been dancing since she was a young elementary-school student. She has had training in various dance styles, including ballet, modern, jazz, tap and her favorite, hip-hop. Her desire to tell stories on stage stems from her unwavering passion to help underserved communities in the North Houston area.
Dancing has always been a major part of Joycelyn's life. She has performed on various notable occasions, including dancing for Dance Theatre of Harlem, Alvin Ailey and constituents like Jesse Jackson, Sheila Jackson Lee and Barbara and George Bush Sr. She is enthusiastic about sharing her passion for dance with her students.
